Privacy Policy

The short version

Map Wanderer has no user account, no ads, and no tracking or analytics. Everything you create — recorded tracks, hand-built trails, markers, and photos — is stored on your device. PowerSlave Developments runs no server that receives your data and never collects it.

Data we collect

None. The app has no sign-in, includes no advertising, and contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. PowerSlave Developments operates no back-end server that receives your personal information, location, or usage, and therefore does not collect, store, sell, or share any of it.

What the app stores on your device

Content you create stays on your device, under your control: recorded GPS tracks and their statistics, hand-built trails and saved routes, map markers and waypoints, photos you attach to a track, and your app settings. This data is never sent to PowerSlave Developments. Removing the app from your device deletes it.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device location to show where you are, centre the map, and record a track as you move. This happens on your device and is not sent to PowerSlave Developments. To draw the map and plan routes, coordinates are sent to the third-party services below so they can return the right map tiles and routes. You can revoke location access at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Third-party services

To function, the app fetches maps and route data over the internet. When it does, those providers necessarily receive requests that include your device's IP address and the coordinates or map area being requested. That data is handled under each provider's own privacy policy, not ours:

• MapTiler — map styles, terrain/relief data, and address look-ups (reverse geocoding). See MapTiler's privacy policy.
• OpenRouteService (HeiGIT) — walking, cycling, and driving route calculation. See OpenRouteService's privacy policy.

These providers are used only to deliver the map and routing features you request. The app does not share your saved tracks, trails, markers, or photos with them or with anyone.

Apple operates the App Store and may collect its own data around downloads, purchases and crash reports under Apple's privacy policy. That relationship is between you and Apple; any crash reports we can see through Apple are aggregated and do not identify you.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR give you rights over personal data a company holds about you — to access it, correct it, delete it, or object to its use. PowerSlave Developments holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing on our side for those rights to apply to. Removing the app from your device deletes everything it stored.

The map and routing providers named above handle the requests they receive under their own policies and their own retention periods. Any rights you wish to exercise over that data are exercised with them directly, using the links in the previous section.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
